More of the Same or the Same Thing Harder: Nuclear Energy: Nuclear energy is extremely vulnerable to misuse, to terrorist attacks, and it produces literally tons of highly-toxic waste products. Nuclear waste products have a half life of 50,000 years which means that they will still be deadly in the future twenty five times longer that all the time since the birth of Jesus until today. Oil: More oil means more of the pollution that we already have. Coal: Coal is a heavy pollution producer. It produces pollution levels worse than those from oil, and the mining of coal produces environmental destruction of monumental proportions. Ethanol: Growing corn to produce auto fuel has serious economic and environmental drawbacks. Toxic substance sprayed on corn fields such as atropine are already getting into the nation's water supply and producing environmental changes that could and likely will have serious repercussions for humans and other life forms. Then there the price-raising effect that this high demand for corn will have on the cost of food. And growing corn for fuel in a world of starving people also has moral and ethical considerations.
